It's a Free People Halloween

When you're too busy planning a wedding to plan a Halloween costume...

Okay okay, I know we don't need a wedding countdown every time I do a blog post but I SERIOUSLY CANNOT BELIEVE WE ARE ONLY 10 DAYS AWAY. I know people say time flies the older you get but good grief I didn't know they were that serious. They also say time flies when you're having fun and that couldn't be more true πŸŽ‰

Speaking of fun, who has fun things planned for Halloween?! From what I've seen, most people have already celebrated this past weekend but I know all the Mom's and Dad's out there are getting ready for trick or treaters tonight! I'm so excited because I've planned a little surprise party for my students at school today to celebrate. No, I didn't have time to plan a Halloween costume but oh well... better luck next year πŸŽƒ  I'm also super excited that we are going to have trick or treaters at our house. We moved into a super family friendly neighborhood so I'm sure we will have a TON. I cannot wait to see all the adorable costumes! And don't worry... Dee (our English bulldog) will be dressing up too 😁  Leave a comment below if you have a guess as to what she's going to be!

On another note, I want to talk about my FAVORITE new Free People sweater with the most FUN sleeves!

I mean have you ever seen better sleeves?! This 'Mixed Media' sweater comes in several colors, all of which I will link! The olive green was my favorite because I have become obsessed with this color this Fall. Shop the olive green 'moss' color here from Belk for only $68! You can also use the same link to click through the other colors: black, ivory, and white! I will say that it runs extremely small unlike the majority of Free People's items. I usually have to size down with their stuff because it typically has an oversized fit. However, this one is quite the opposite and very fitted. I sized up to a large and am typically a small in their tops/sweaters!

Other Free People favorites this Fall UNDER $100:

Free People Freemont Fringe Bandana Scarf

Free People Wildcat Cowl Neck Thermal Pullover

Free People Mountaineer Lace-Up Sleeve Sweater (ON SALE now!)

Behind the Blog

Behind the Blog: A Little Bit About Me

When I first started this blogging experience, the majority of my followers were people who I knew personally or people who have been following me on social media for a while! However since then, I have seen LOTS of new faces and names and seriously cannot thank each and every one of you for that. The support from my followers is the BEST part of blogging and I truly couldn't do it without you all. For those of you that don't know me and even for those of you that do, I've decided to share 10 fun facts about myself. I want to not only relate to my followers through our fashion sense and style but also (hopefully) be able to relate to some of you in your every day life: the good, the bad, the down right strange.

1. I am a K-5 Special Education Teacher.
2. I am an Alpha Phi Alumni.
3. I am addicted to Starbucks iced coffee (comment if you want the most amazing coffee order on the menu πŸ˜‰ ).
4. I'm obsessed with my English Bulldog, Dee.
5. I am an only child and only grandchild.
6. I love being at the beach, summer or not.
7. My high school graduating class was only 29 people and I went to school with the majority of them from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
8. I hate fruits and vegetables (it's the texture, not the taste).
9. I'm very OCD about paper and refuse to buy a book or magazine that has a ripped or crinkled page.
10. I'm VERY punctual... like 30+ minutes early everywhere I go.

Now that you guys have learned a little more about me,  I'll share some outfit details... including EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNTS!

This gorgeous 'Bam Bougie Bamboo Necklace' is only $24 and super popular! AND you can shop it using code 'Class20' for 20% off of your FIRST purchase at Bri Kel Boutique. Shop yours here now!

DIY Counting Task Binder

Calling All Elementary Teachers

If you are looking for a fun and engaging math center idea, this super easy DIY project is for you! Let me start off by saying that I can take NO credit for these amazing pineapple tens frames. I got these from Krista Wallden on Teachers Pay Teachers. If you are a fellow Teachers Pay Teachers user, I highly recommend you following her for the most fun and colorful items. She is sure to have something to brighten up your classroom. After I downloaded these from her store, I put my own little DIY spin on them that I'm going to share with you today πŸŽ‰

Since I teach multiple grade levels at the same time, I have to constantly come up with individualized tasks that keep my students engaged. Binder systems have recently become my GO TO. They are so hands on and not only help with academic skills but also fine motor skills. This particular binder that I've created focuses on one to one correspondence for numbers 1 through 20.

The first thing that I did was laminate the pages in order to keep them from messing up and tearing. From there I put them in a plain 3" binder and stuck the 'zero' tens frame in the front as my cover! For numbers 1 through 10, I used velcro dots that I buy in BULK from Amazon to attach counter circles to match each number. This provides students with the opportunity to use one to one correspondence to count as they attach the velcro pieces into the tens frames. They LOVE it and what they don't know is that they are learning and having fun at the same time πŸ™Œ  And the best part for teachers is that you can watch students as they work and take notes as to how they are/are not using one to one correspondence for a SUPER easy way to progress monitor!

For numbers 11 through 20, students have to take their learning to the next level! The velcro pieces are no longer attached so they have to use their finger to touch each black dot on the paper to count.

Please FEEL FREE to drop a comment below with any questions that you have about this task binder! I'm happy to help and love sharing my DIY projects with my fellow teachers. Again, HUGE SHOUT OUT to Krista Wallden for her amazing resources!

Sparkle and Shine

Details. Details. Details.

Even though my mind is in major WEDDING MODE with the wedding being only (a little over) TWO WEEKS AWAY, I've been starting to think about outfits for later in the year! If you saw my last blog post, you saw that I was already prepping my wardrobe for holiday parties and Christmas events. They seriously are my favorite and you can never plan too far ahead. This is yet another outfit that is perfect for just that πŸ™Œ  I cannot believe that this Christmas, I will be MARRIED. That sounds so funny to say because I truly cannot believe it's already here. I could go on and on about the wedding but I'll stop there for now. Don't worry, more wedding posts are to come 😁

Details. Details. Details. This skirt is ALL about the details. You truly have to see it to believe how incredible the detail is in this skirt. You can honestly style it with any color but for now, I styled it with my favorite Anna Cate Cheyanne Top. I just love the blue with it! However, I also plan on styling it with red and black later on in the year.

This is about as up close and clear that the computer will let you get to the detail on this skirt. If you follow me on Instagram, you can click on my 'Anna Cate' story highlight and view a live try on session featuring this skirt. What you can't really tell is that the white part in the skirt is textured and almost like fringe. It's absolutely stunning in person and would be PERFECT for holiday parties and events. This skirt is a bit of a splurge but you can shop it NOW using my exclusive discount code 'Addie15' at checkout. Treat yourself to this Kelby Skirt to prep your closet for upcoming events πŸŽ‰

Prepping for the Holidays

Holiday Wardrobe Planning

Am I the only one already thinking about Christmas parties/holiday parties/Christmas IN GENERAL?! 😍  I absolutely love dressing up for Christmas parties and other holiday related events, especially ones that require cocktail attire! I've always loved dressing up and you can pretty much always guarantee that I'll be over dressed versus under dressed πŸ™ˆ  Worse things have happened! Well if you're like me and love dressing up especially around the holidays, this post is FOR YOU.

I have found the PERFECT cocktail attire outfit! I'll also start off by saying that this post is all about SPLURGING (meaning featuring items over $100) but what's wrong with buying yourself an early Christmas gift or two?! πŸŽ‰

I want to talk a little bit about this amazing clutch from Dress for Cocktails. If you have watched the show Southern Charm then you have definitely seen this brand featured! I had honestly never watched the show or heard of this brand until recently but I am now IN LOVE. I'm going to walk you through step by step how to design your very own CUSTOM Original Cocktail Clutch 😍

First, you choose your clutch color! The color that I chose is 'Black Dalmatian', which is the first option on the left.

Next, you choose your bow color and let me tell you.. that is a TOUGH decision! There are so many beautiful options, it is so hard to pick! Luckily, you can order additional bows if you're super indecisive like me or if you want to style your clutch many different ways!

For this look, I decided to go with the plain black bow, which is also your first option on the left! I just think that this black and white is so elegant looking.

I styled my black and white cocktail clutch with this STUNNING red Anna Cate Collection dress that I received in my latest Anna Cate VIP box! If you have not tried out the VIP experience, I HIGHLY recommend doing so! I previously did a blog post on the entire experience that you can view here for step by step directions πŸŽ‰

This 'Kylie' dress is absolutely gorgeous on and so flattering! If you follow me on Instagram, this is one of the dresses I showed in my recent try on session. If you missed it, you can still view it under my 'Anna Cate' Instagram story highlight so make sure to check that out for exact sizing references! This dress runs slightly big so I sized down to a small and it fits perfectly.

Miss to Mrs

I Love Jewelry Collaboration

First, I CANNOT believe that in less than a month these initials will officially be mine 😍  Our wedding is coming SO fast but I truly have never been more excited for anything. Officially going from Miss to Mrs!

Since I have started blogging, I have admired countless (HUGE) bloggers that have advertised and posted about I Love Jewelry. More specifically, I have admired this tote bag. There are SO many things that you could use it for but my first thought was our honeymoon. I cannot wait to use this bag to travel to Exuma once we are officially married!

I have seriously been so envious of bloggers that have posted pictures with this bag! I mean how could you not be?! Well... now I can officially say I am one of those bloggers 😁  I have partnered up with I Love Jewelry themselves to show you this GORGEOUS Monogrammed Coco Tweed Handbag that is on MAJOR SALE right now! This tote was originally $178 but it is on sale now for ONLY $68. That is a deal you cannot beat! Shop it here now while you can get it for such an amazing price!

So Fall is barely here and I have already over-worn these jeans.. oops πŸ™ˆ  But I have gotten SO many questions about them over the last few weeks so I wanted to take a second to talk about them! I am SO excited that boot cut jeans have come back in style. I'll admit I never really stopped wearing mine but it's always comforting to know other people are loving them too. I have actually linked this particular pair on here before but I will share details about them again! Honestly I bought these jeans probably 5 years ago or more from Express but they still have many similar styles that I will link below!

Dune Jewelry Instagram GIVEAWAY

If you have been following along with me on Instagram, you know that this month I've been doing several incredible giveaways πŸŽ‰  I've been lucky enough to team up with some AMAZING brands and stores this month, I really hope you guys haven't missed out.. but if you have, there is more to come πŸ™Œ  This giveaway is definitely the most personal and special because the winner gets a CUSTOM MADE bracelet with sand of their choice!

A few months ago, I teamed up with Dune Jewelry and did a blog post featuring their Rope Inlet Cuff with sand from Salter Path, NC, which is where my family owns a beach condo. If you were not following me then/did not see that post, here is a little info about their cuffs:

Dune Jewelry is a custom jewelry company that creates beautiful jewelry of all kinds with sand from ALL over! Once you choose the bracelet/necklace/ring/etc style that you want, you choose where you want the sand to be from! How cool is that?! I just love that every time I look at my bracelet, I am reminded of somewhere so special to me! After that post, I got SO many questions and comments about Dune Jewelry that I decided to team back up with them to do this giveaway for you guys!

In order to enter this giveaway, you HAVE to be following along with me on Instagram! As I've said before, there are many perks of following me there because there is SO much content that never makes it onto here, including the opportunity to enter all of these giveaways!

The bracelet on the left is the yellow gold cuff that I first got with the sand from Salter Path. The one on the right is the newest cuff that I got with sand from our honeymoon destination that will be here before we know it 😍  Jacob and I decided to go to Exuma, Bahamas for our honeymoon and seriously cannot wait! I think it is SO special that Dune Jewelry created this custom cuff for me after I told them that's where we were going! Not only do they have beautiful jewelry, but they are the SWEETEST people.

Making Me Blush

'Making Me Blush' Pink

Okay so before I get into outfit details, I HAVE to share a funny story that I just thought of after I uploaded these pictures. Growing up, my Mom's FAVORITE color was this pale blush pink. I made fun of her every single day because literally all she wore was this color and I could not stand it. Every afternoon when she got home from work, her favorite thing to wear was her 'pink sweat suit.' And when I say she wore it every day.. she wore it to the point that I finally had to say listen, you need to throw this thing in the trash can πŸ˜‚  I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she didn't still have it hidden away somewhere. Anyway, I had to share that little back story because never in a million years would I ever have imagined I would be doing a blog post specifically about this color! She'll be so proud when she reads this... shout out to your blush pink inspiration Mom!

First, I want to talk about this absolutely gorgeous suede Anna Cate Collection top. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing my latest favorites from Anna Cate and this one is by far my top pick! Especially paired with this Hands High Designs necklace 😍  If you have been following me for a while, you know that I do many collaborations with Anna Cate but NOW you can use my exclusive discount to shop the items I post about! Also if you've been following me, you also know that most of Anna Cate's pieces are over $100 so they are a bit of a splurge. However, they are WORTH IT and the quality is absolutely amazing. I feel like her items improve with each collection she releases and this latest one is the most beautiful by far (even though I say that every time).

I'm sure many of you think that because my blog is about affordable fashion, I must make some sort of commission posting about things with this price point. While that is sometimes the case, I TRULY do wear the pieces that I post! I do not buy things or take on collaborations for things that I do not actually see myself wearing/carrying, so always know that even if something is expensive, I mean everything that I say about it! If you know me, you know that I am a very up front person and am always going to tell it like it is πŸ˜‰

Anyways! THIS TOP. It's seriously the softest top that I've ever worn and the most comfy. It's now available online and you definitely want to grab yours because it will most likely sell out! It runs pretty big.. I have on the XS but could easily wear the small comfortably. Order this blush pink Nina Top NOW using my exclusive discount code 'Addie15' at checkout πŸ’•

The next thing I want to share with you is this gorgeous Hands High Designs antler necklace 😍  They are a brand that I have recently discovered and am SO glad that I did. Their necklaces and other accessories are so affordable and right on trend. Even though Jacob (my fiancΓ¨) says I have a million necklaces"like this," you can never have too many. I am SO excited to share this with you because I am doing a GIVEAWAY with Hands High Designs later THIS MONTH. So if you love this necklace, you definitely want to follow me on Instagram so you don't miss the opportunity to win one of them! I love this particular blush pink style paired with this Anna Cate top. The pinks look so good together and the beading with the antler gives it the perfect statement!

Stay tuned for more of the latest Anna Cate and Hands High Designs coming SOON!

Something Blue

Happy Monday!

Sorry I've been a little MIA from here for a while, life has been extremely busy these last few weeks (which I'm sure all of you understand)! Between work, Jacob's birthday, our Pig Pickin', and everything else, I've gotten super behind on blog posts (oops!). Speaking of our Pig Pickin' this past Saturday... it was absolutely amazing! I cannot thank everyone enough who came and helped make it so special! I really hope all of you follow along with me on Instagram because there is SO much content that I post there that never makes it on here, including some pictures and outfit details from that. Also, our Pig Pickin' was our last event until the wedding weekend... I cannot believe it 😱  We are JUST OVER A MONTH AWAY!

On the topic of the wedding, I wanted to share with you today this "something blue." I have recently come across a new brand that I am in LOVE with called Caitlin Elizabeth Collection. Not to mention, the owner is the sweetest ever! I have so enjoyed working with her on this collaboration to share with you guys! Whether you're a bride to be, bride, bridesmaid, or just someone who loves jewelry, THIS is the brand for you! Her earrings are so unique and delicate and they make the perfect statement. When I was talking with her about this collaboration, we both thought it would be the perfect idea to feature these earrings for brides to be! Instead of choosing something white to feature, I wanted to mix it up a little bit and do "something blue."

These 'Sky Blue with Gold Bar' earrings are not only beautiful, but also SO affordable! They are only $55 and perfect for dressing up or down. They are extremely light weight and make the perfect statement πŸ’™  These earrings come in a variety of colors, with my other favorites being white, lavender, garnet, and navy (all perfect for fall). You can shop all of the colors here along with many other beautiful styles. She also does CUSTOM bridal earrings so if you're looking for bridesmaid earrings, I highly suggest checking her out!

As promised, I am linking all other outfit details here because I have been FLOODED with messages and comments about these shoes 😍  They are Marc Fisher and ON MAJOR SALE now for under $100! You can shop them here now from Nordstrom.

Also, if you've been following me for a while, then you've seen this Anna Cate 'Riley' top before but I am going to link it here again now! It is my absolute FAVORITE one of her tops. I recommend sizing down for a more true to size fit! I have on the small here. Shop it now using my EXCLUSIVE discount code 'Addie15' at checkout!

Stars & Sleeves

The BEST Embroidered Sleeves

I honestly don't think I could love this top more if I tried! This was my absolute favorite pick from my Mary & Mak try on session this past weekend. It is already selling out SO FAST and I mean how could it not?! Between the mauve color that is so popular right now and the embroidered sleeves, you can't beat it! To me, it looks a lot like the Free People top that is new this fall but so much more affordable. It runs slightly large so I sized down to a small to give it a more fitted look. Shop this 'Cutest Contrast Sleeve Top' now for UNDER $50 before it's gone!

When I was at Mary & Mak this weekend looking at all of their new arrivals, they were unpacking a box of BRAND NEW Shelia Fajl earrings including these star 'Silvina' hoops! 😍  Shelia Fajl is another one of my favorite jewelry brands and Mary & Mak always has the best selection! These star hoops are UNDER $60 and so light weight!

Brittany Rawls Art

Brittany Rawls Custom Art

I am SO excited to share this personalized and meaningful wedding gift that Jacob and I received from my Mom this weekend πŸ’™  Since the first day that we got engaged, I have said over and over again how I hoped that we got one of these because of how special they are! Brittany Rawls is a local North Carolina artist that I heard of through mutual friends in Greenville, NC. She is absolutely incredible. I have been following her on Instagram for a long time admiring these paintings in addition to the live event paintings that she does and many other things! If you have never heard of her or seen her work, I highly recommend checking her out!

Today I am going to share with you our customized painting and the story behind each of the elements included! In our painting, we started at the top with our parents' houses. Jacob grew up in Warrenton, NC (his house is on the right) and I grew up in Louisburg, NC (on the left). They are both super small towns if you have never heard of them but they are only about 25 minutes apart! Next is a picture of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, which is the trip Jacob took me on when we got engaged last December. It was one of the most amazing and memorable trips I have ever been on! I have always loved the Biltmore (which Jacob knows) so he gave me a trip to Asheville and to the Biltmore last Christmas. Little did I know, we were going to be getting engaged there too 😍  He seriously always gives the most thoughtful gifts and does the most thoughtful things! Next is a picture of Louisburg Baptist Church, which is where our wedding ceremony is going to be! Beside that is a picture of the Timberlake House in Louisburg, NC, which is where the reception is going to be. It's also where our engagement pictures were taken! Last, at the bottom, is a picture of our home Jacob and I purchased together last January in Garner, NC.

I wouldn't trade this picture for the world! Every single place drawn into it means so much to me and I cannot thank my Mom and Brittany enough for making it happen for us!

Like I said before, you MUST check out Brittany Rawls if you are looking for the perfect and most special gifts! I am linking her website here but if you are on Instagram, I highly suggest you following here on there as well. Thanks again Brittany, we could not love it more!

On another note, I want to link my AMAZING new top from Mary & Mak that I got this weekend! If you follow me on Instagram (which I highly recommend you doing for even more content not featured on here), you saw my try on session at Mary & Mak on Saturday! This top was the one that I got the most questions about and direct link requests for. I also wore it to a birthday party on Saturday night and got so many compliments. I am going to link it here so that you can shop it easily! It runs a little big so I recommend sizing down, I got the small. Hurry and grab it now before it's gone because it most definitely a BEST SELLER!

Use code 'Addie15' at checkout for my exclusive discount!
