Our Honeymoon

Our Honeymoon: Exuma, Bahamas

To start off, I truly don't think I can put into words how beautiful of a place this was or how much fun we had. I also want to say that pictures don't at all do it justice but I will do my best to show you how amazing it was! I also want to say that no part of this post is sponsored in any way, it's just my true feelings about every aspect of our experience.

For those of you that don't know, Jacob and I chose Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma, Bahamas for our honeymoon and we could not have made a better choice. From the time we got there to the time we left, we were blown away by how beautiful everything was, how great the food was, and how accommodating and nice all of the staff were. We have stayed at a few all inclusive resorts in the Bahamas before and NONE of them compare to Sandals. I have always heard great things about Sandals but now I can honestly say for myself that I would recommend staying at one of their locations every time if you are looking for a tropical and all-inclusive vacation. Everything about the resort was SO pretty, but I think the views of the sunsets were my favorite part. Also, I have never seen water so blue in my life 😍

Food:

Jacob and I are two of the pickiest eaters that I know and we both actually loved ALL of the food. We tried local seafood, American food, Japanese food, sushi, authentic Indian food, authentic Italian food, and authentic French food and were not disappointed with one single meal. Of course, the hibachi was my favorite (because I'm a huge hibachi lover) but the seafood and Indian were close seconds. If you have specific questions about any of the food/restaurants at the resort, leave a comment below but here were some of our favorites:

(And yes, we basically ate our way through the trip 😂)

Now for my FAVORITE part... SWIMMING WITH THE PIGS!

This was one of the main reasons we chose Exuma to be honest. Me more so than Jacob but we both really enjoyed it! We booked the excursion through Sandals but it was with a private company called Exuma Water Sports. They were THE BEST people! If you travel to Exuma, Sandals or not, you definitely should do this excursion because it is 100% worth your money. At first, we thought that we were paying to only swim with the pigs plus the boat ride to and from the pig island. However, we were completely wrong! The excursion is about 4 hours long and in addition to swimming with the pigs, you get to visit 2 different islands (the pig island and an iguana island), 2 additional beaches, snorkel or just float around in a beautiful reef, and get to see privately owned islands and celebrity mansions. It truly was so much fun and I highly recommend doing it whether you're interested in the pigs or not!

It was honestly a little scary at first because when you pull up on the boat, the pigs know you're going to feed them so they immediately swim out to you as fast as they can! I know this one baby pig is small but all the other ones are HUGE. They look like they could easily kill you in one bite or with one kick but they are harmless! All you have to do to get them away from you is splash them with water, and trust me you have to do that a lot because they want all of the attention (or really just the food) 😂  The tour guides had no idea the baby pigs had been born so they were a pleasant surprise to everyone! I really wanted to bring one home with me but unfortunately that wasn't allowed... by both the Bahamas and Jacob. It was a once in a lifetime experience that's for sure and I loved every single minute. If we ever go back, I will DEFINITELY do it again!

Any fellow Bachelor/Bachelorette fans?! Well if you are, you'll definitely recognize this beach from Ben's season a few seasons back! This is the exact spot where he left the poor girl stranded on the island (with the camera crew) when he didn't propose. The tour guides love to tell you all about it 😂  That aside, it's one of the neatest places I've ever been!

Our last stop on the excursion was the iguana island. I'll go ahead and tell you, they did NOT save the best for last in my opinion because I was not a fan of these things. They are more harmless than the pigs because they are probably more afraid of you than you are of them... I'm just not a huge reptile fan. Some people were picking them up and feeding them grapes out of their hand but I passed on that. I tossed a view of them grapes but I made sure I was a pretty good distance away when doing so. However, I will say it was a really cool thing to see and experience!

I didn't get any pictures of the reef we snorkeled in because I had no idea we were doing that so I didn't take an underwater camera. However, it was BEAUTIFUL. I had never been snorkeling before somewhere like that so I really enjoyed it!

Honeymoon Outfit Details:

This dress is about 3 or 4 years old but I have been IN LOVE with it since it first came out! I have wanted it forever but it retails for like $300 and I just wasn't up for paying that. Luckily for me, I found it on Poshmark with the tags still on it for $65 in my size right before our trip 🙌  It's a Mara Hoffman dress and you can still find it in several sizes on Ebay and Poshmark! I actually found one that I am going to link HERE (size large).

Other/Similar Tropical Dresses UNDER $100:

Red Dress Boutique Tropical Print Maxi / Revolve Mini Dress / Shein Tropical Off the Shoulder Dress (ONLY $17)

You can also shop SALE Mara Hoffman dresses HERE

This is the most perfect pink dress that you can read all about HERE in my previous blog post! It's one of my Anna Cate Collection favorites that I purchased this past summer and featured in one of my very first blog posts.

I am also wearing everyone's favorite Lisi Lerch tassel earrings in gold! You can shop them HERE through the link in their Instagram bio.

This top is another personal favorite of mine that is a few years old! It's Show Me Your Mumu from Bevello like 3 years ago and I've gotten SO much wear out of it since. This is the old SMYM Lady Luau Print but you can shop ALL of their new/sale items in a variety of tropical and floral prints HERE

How fun are these Allie Beads Nestling earrings?! They come in 3 different colors but I was so excited when I found the pink ones for our trip! I cannot wait to style them even more this coming summer. Shop them HERE in all 3 colors now for under $100.

Last but not least is this tropical two piece set! I got SO many questions and messages about this outfit when I posted it a few days ago. I bought it from Mary & Mak about 6 months ago specifically for our trip. It's unfortunately no longer available BUT in March, they are getting ALL new spring and summer items that I cannot wait to see! I'll be sharing those with you ASAP once the time is closer but for now I am going to link similar tropical two piece sets below:
